Rethinking Philanthropy
100 Women Who Care was started in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, MI, as a brilliantly simple way to raise money efficiently and quickly for local charities/non-profits/worthy causes. Her group of 100 women, at their first one-hour meeting, each wrote a check for $100 directly to the nonprofit, raising $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city. Since then, there are over 650 - 700 Who Care giving circles in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and other parts of the world.
Who are we?

We are a group of Anchorage-area women who care deeply about our community. Since we were founded in 2014, 100+ Women Who Care - Anchorage has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofits serving the Anchorage area.
Four times a year we come together for a one-hour meeting and each member makes a $100 donation to a nonprofit that the group selects. This combined donation of approximately $10,000 makes a real impact, without time-consuming fundraising events and planning.
Our mission and our hope is to provide for those in greatest need in the Anchorage area, including Girdwood and Eagle River.

All Are Welcome to Join!!
How does it work?
One hour - No overhead - 100% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit!
Nominations
Nominations are made by members in good standing (meaning she has contributed to all non-profits over the last year). They can be submitted via grapevine a few weeks prior to each meeting. One week prior to the meeting three (3) nonprofits will be randomly selected as potential beneficiaries of 100+ Anchorage.

The Meeting
All members are invited to meet at the Lakefront hotel for an hour long meeting in which we network, nominate and hear from the three randomly selected non-profits for the evening.

Voting
Following the presentations the group will vote, for one of the three nonprofits presented, by ballot and majority rules. Although it may not be your first choice, you have pledged a commitment as a member of 100+ Women Who Care Anchorage to make a contribution.
Donation
For your tax purposes, all checks will be made out to the group's chosen organization, of which should be 100% tax deductible due to charities needing to hold 501c3 status. If you are unable to attend, please plan to give your check to a member to deliver on your behalf. Online donations are also available via grapevine. The goal and purpose of the group is to have full participation four (4) times per year to maximize the impact our group can make around our community.
