Frequently Asked Questions

Wait... How does it work?

One hour - No overhead - 100% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit!

We meet in person quarterly as a group. We hold our meeting to 1 hour in which we network, hear from three previously randomly selected nonprofits.

Following the presentations the group will vote, for one of the three nonprofits presented, by ballot and majority rules. Although it may not be your first choice, please honor your pledge, as a member of 100+ Women Who Care Anchorage to still donate.

For your tax purposes, all checks will be made out to the group's chosen organization, of which should be 100% tax deductible due to nonprofit needing to hold 501c3 status. If you are unable to attend, please plan to make your donation on our Grapevine portal or mail your check. The goal and purpose of our giving circle is to have full participation four (4) times per year to maximize the impact we can make collectively in our community.

Who can participate?

Anyone! Officially we are 100+ WOMEN Who Care, but we invite anyone interested to attend. Our name stems from those who founded idea back in 2006.

If you care about our community and are interested in joining others to make a significant contribution, this may be the place for you!

We encourage all interested parties to attend a meeting, meet the friendly faces in the room and consider becoming a member.

If I make a donation, can I decide what my money is used for?

100+ pre-qualifies all nonprofits before they can be nominated. This means that they must be a 501(c)3 and donations must go to support people in the Municipality of Anchorage (including Girdwood and Eagle River).

However, once a donation is given, we rely on that organization to use the money as they explained in their "pitch." We ask all nonprofits who receive a gift to return the next quarter and report about how the funds were used. But independent designations, of how your contribution is used, is not possible through the 100+ donation.

What if I have to miss a meeting? Can I still make a donation?

Yes! You can donate online.

Or you can write a good ole' fashioned check. If you write a check, be sure to write the designated nonprofit in "Pay to the order of..."

Remember all contributions go directly to the selected nonprofit, we collect all contributions and will deliver for you. Checks should be mailed to:

I work for a nonprofit, how do I get my organization listed?

First, thank you for the work you do!

Second, please check to see if your organization is on the list of pre-approved charities. If so, GREAT! See if a 100+ member will nominate you before the next meeting. If your charity is selected at random, you along with your nominating member, will have a chance to share your organization's story and need at the next meeting.

If your organization is not on the list, you must have a current member ask to have you added. Verification may take a few weeks, but once you are added, you remain throughout the year.

I missed the last donation, can I still vote or nominate a nonprofit?

Only current members in good standing can vote and nominate.

If you wish to become current, you can make the last donation before our next meeting (or bring the check when you check in to our next meeting). This will make you current and you are welcome to vote.

If you are a new member, you will need to make one contribution in order to nominate a nonprofit and vote.
